Last week WhereBridesGo.com offered some helpful tips about things to consider if you decided to host a wedding this year. (See "Planning a Wedding During COVID-19? Some Things to Consider...")

Today, our online wedding store has some advice for anyone that instead decides to postpone their special day. It may seem hard to wait a moment longer to marry your true love but if it means more of your family and friends can join you for the celebration, it just might be worth it.

Postponing the Wedding

For those of you that feel more comfortable postponing the wedding to a later date, it's perfectly understandable. That way you have a better chance of pulling off that wedding you've been dreaming of without all the added restrictions that the current pandemic may put on the festivities.

Alert Guests & Vendors ASAP

Many of you may want to wait until the last moment possible to "pull the plug" on getting married on this year's originally set date. If you have already sent out wedding invitations or save-the-dates, you owe it to your guests to let them know as soon as possible in case they have to alter travel plans. Making the final decision at least 3-5 months out should give everyone time to take care of this.

As for vendors, the sooner you are able to let them know your plans, the better chance you have that those vendors will work with you to avoid as many cancelation fees as possible. Hopefully, you will be able to use any deposits you have already given them to book a date in the future.

More Time to Plan and Save

One silver lining about postponing your wedding date is that it will give you extra time to save up some extra wedding funds. That extra money can be put toward any wedding decorations or fun activities you were going to have to leave out this year due to budget restrictions. (Or, more time to add to your savings to replace any fees incurred for postponing.)

Do be aware that lots of couples are choosing to put their wedding date off until a time in the future when people are more comfortable about getting out in public around large crowds. Dates for next year may fill up faster than usual, so the sooner you can make new plans, the better.
